Chuck’s Tours… sharing our area with pride!
Chuck Medina of Chuck's Tours shares our beautiful area with others with pride! Recently, two gals staying at our Boutique Hotel asked if I knew someone who could take them to San Sebastian. I had heard of a fellow who did such tours and hired him even though I had never used him before. All day long I questioned my choice, saying to my hubby; “Oh my gosh, I just sent two ladies with an absolute stranger up into the mountains. What was I thinking!?” Thank heavens they returned, cheering the fabulousness of Chuck Medina! They’d been picked up early [...]

Top 10 Historic Places In The Riviera Nayarit
Top 10 Historic Places In The Riviera Nayarit The Riviera Nayarit is much more than exclusive resorts set on gorgeous beaches or traditional fishing villages. This tourism corridor that extends along more than 307 kilometers of coastline also guards a variety of historical places, as do other regions of the state like the Sierra del Nayar and Colonial Nayarit. In these places it’s possible to find the remains of pre-Colombian civilizations and also more modern ones, whether in the Heroic Port of San Blas, in archaeological sites like Altavista in the municipality of Compostela, or in the towns tucked away [...]
Characters: Mexican Fisherman, Jesus
Mexican Fisherman, Jesus My favourite thing about living in an ‘away-land’ is that I get to meet a variety of people from all walks of life. During our second year in La Cruz we met a fabulous Mexican fisherman and ocean tour operator, Jesus; pronounced ‘Hey-zuice’. He and his son, also Jesus, took Chris, me and four others to the Marieta Islands where we delighted in seeing the Blue footed booby bird and we got to swim in a crater. More on that excursion in a future blog, this story is on the man who created his life and [...]
Beachwalk; La Cruz to Bucerias
The beachwalk from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle to Bucerias is a rewarding and exhilarating way to spend a day. I consider myself blessed with many friends; some from my past and some in my Mexican world. When the two converge it brings a little of ‘home’ to me. I especially like sharing all that delights me here and feel giddy when others like some of what we love, possibly even more than we do! One of these excursions is the beach walk to Bucerias from Villa Amor del Mar. We all find it so peaceful, we get in a little [...]
Excursions; Punta de Mita
Punta de Mita is a delightful excursion from La Cruz. 20 minutes away (by car or a smidge more by bus) you can choose the high end, beyond the walled property of the Four Seasons and St. Regis OR go into town and eat tacos from a local Mexican OR be the traveler you are and meet in the middle, at what I call restaurant row. Restaurant row offers many varieties of Mexican food, lots of seafood options and many cocktails to choose from. Select a seat with feet in the sand, literally on the beach, my fave!
