Chris and Cindy Bouchard; your hosts at Villa Amor del Mar, a couple of characters around town. In my series of Characters around town, it occurred to me you might want to know about us. We were asked to share our story in Mexi-go magazine and invite you to check it out! If you can't read this, go here and to page 42 AND there's a little more about us here. AND there's a story about the pool renovation here. Let us help you Rest, Relax and Rejuvenate! “Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier.” [...]
Characters: Patricia Moss
Patricia Moss makes a difference in our community as a mom, a business leader and by taking stands in politics, where it matters most. My passion for this column is to learn and share about La Cruz and who makes up the eclectic bunch that live and work here. Especially interested in how it became a town and the families who founded it I’m delving into the history and will report more as I learn more. Patricia Moss created La Cruz Concierge in 2007 to look after people desiring accommodations and events in and around La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. [...]
La Cruz de Huanacaxtle in the news.
La Cruz, in the news, again! My adoration of our town or as the Mexican's say, pueblo, has me tickled when others write about us, read more here www.VillaAmorDelMar.com, Beachfront Mexico, Mexico vacation

La Cruz rocks; Mandy and Britannia Pub
Places with character… Mandy and Britannia La Cruz Walking into the fortress that is Britannia in La Cruz makes one think they’re in jolly old England. The bar with its dark wood and grandeur with English beer steins hanging has one begging for a Guinness. The foreboding knights in shining armor guard us as we dance the night away. Never experiencing a rockin’ night like Tuesdays at ‘The Brit’ when I’ve been to England apparently that’s where we leave Britain behind. Tuesday is my favourite night in La Cruz. Mandy has the house band ‘The Turn’ commence the evening playing [...]
Characters; Wayland and Aruna
It is with great sadness that we mourn the death of our dear friend, Wayland. Wayland Combe-Wright Nov. 29, 1947 - July 19, 2022. From Wayland's daughter; Kaerolik Combe Wright A week ago today, I was at the hospital taking care of my dad asking myself what would be next for him after death, how would he want us to share this experience with him. Christians have a funeral followed by nine days of praying 'novenario'. But he was not a Christian, he embraced humans regardless of the religion. Looking for ideas on our world wide web, I found [...]
Characters: Oso creates in La Cruz
Oso (Ángel) presents tantalizing dishes at Oso's 'Restaurant del Mercado de Mar' in La Cruz! Oso in La Cruz de Huanacxatle When we first met Ángel, my hubby and I were enjoying our daily walk on the Malecon at the marina, just down the beach from Villa Amor del Mar. Finally, there was some action inside one of the spaces designated for restaurants. The place was abuzz with construction activity! Living a hop, skip and a jump down the beach, we had been keen to know when the new restaurant would open. Ángel [...]
Sweet passions; La Cruz’s bakers!
La Cruz’s bakers; I interviewed Michael about his journey and the much-needed service he and Yolanda are creating with 'MY Cakes LaCruz'! Reminiscing about how I met different folks in La Cruz brings a smile! My first memory of Michael Crane humbled me; it was six in the morning at Philo’s bar where Canada was playing Sweden in the Olympic hockey game. Philo was kind enough to open for those of us who had to embrace our roots! Needless to say, the room was full of Canadians except for Philo and his one staff member, Gris, who came in to [...]

La Ballena Blanca; Chef Edwin creates!
Chef Edwin creates shrimp and fish tacos and more; Kareli creates unique and tasty beverages; The music gets everyone dancing. La Ballena Blanca is fun for all! It was exciting to watch the location that is now La Ballena Blanca [translated to The White Whale] transformed into a restaurant. I marvel at what can be done with a blank, semi-outside space in Mexico. Due to very little rain for months, during the high season, a ceiling or roof structure isn’t mandatory as proven with the sail shades hung decoratively yet serving a much-needed function. The delightful bar that is [...]
