Enrique’s Glorieta Restaurant
Enrique’s Glorieta Restaurant lasts the test of time; 15 years and going strong. A pleasant vibe embraced us when my hubby and I visited Enrique‘s for a ‘date lunch’ recently. There is lovely background music, gorgeous murals on every wall and we were surrounded by delightful greenery under the pergola. Enrique, with his wife, Emma, opened the original restaurant on the Glorieta (circle where the cross is, just down from the only street light in La Cruz) in 2002 and moved a few steps closer to the marina in their current location in 2012. Both passionate about cooking [...]
Amigos de La Cruz making a difference!
Amigos de la Cruz does much for many. When friends get together to make a difference, lives are changed for the better. Today I thank the people of Amigos de La Cruz. There were two beginnings that merged to become the organization it is now. APERCH, the predecessor to Amigos de La Cruz, had its beginning in 2003 when the new highway to Punta de Mita was built. Unexpectedly, La Cruz was left with an embankment and no entry into town! Some residents and small business owners of La Cruz got together and petitioned the Municipal President for: Construction of [...]
Langosta DIEZ La Cruz; an unforgettable dining experience.
Langosta DIEZ La Cruz, International Cuisine and Art Gallery; An unforgettable dining experience. To experience an indoor patio as spectacular as the food is a delight to the senses. Airy and pretty, decorated mainly in white, mimicking our refreshing coastal scenes; Langosta Diez has created a casually elegant environment. Decorated with a palette of blue hues, which they modify for special celebrations and seasons of the year. Every table, every corner delights with details intended to create visual joy while enjoying your meal. The restaurant is also a gallery; artisan furniture is made in Jalisco, Mexico, tinted with different [...]
La Cruz comes to life, welcome high-season!
La Cruz comes to life… again! This time of year marks a spectacular reunion of folks. The anticipation is marvelous; friends share return dates, businesses promote upcoming events, the theatre group is preparing, causes requests donations, restaurants closed for the summer reopen… and always in La Cruz, delightful music. What really caught my attention and will please many is that there are more options for shopping. In addition to the Octopus Garden and Langosta Diez, Mare Nostrum have added a local artisan crafts area to their restaurants. Organic Love is expanding to include an organic artisanal shop with organic and [...]
Litibu Grill; a restaurant paradise!
Alfonso’s favourite quote is on the wall; Be pure and simple, and love all because all are one. Live a sincere life; be natural, and be honest with yourself. ~ Meher Baba.
Helping children; Carmen Inspires!
Helping Children... is the best! Helping children is near and dear to my heart! As I write about this amazing teacher volunteering her time in La Cruz and creating an amazing difference for young people I learn that today is teacher's day in México (May 15th)! FELIZ DÍA DEL MAESTRA, Carmen! Carmen Tapia was brought into the world at the Robert Parker Hospital in Bradford, Pennsylvania where her dad was doing his residency. Two months old when her dad finished his specialty as an orthopedic surgeon, Carmen and her family returned home to Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico where her extended family [...]
Sail-maker Mike; loving La Cruz.
Mike is so much more than a sail-maker! Passionate about sharing stories of our local La Cruzers, I especially cherish giving credence to folks who volunteer their time giving back to the community! A huge shout out to volunteers Katrina and Mike; I wrote about Katrina’s local involvement in an earlier column, now its time to celebrate sail-maker Mike Danielson. Please say hi to him the next time you’re in La Cruz. Mike the sail-maker. View his linkedin page and you’ll learn that Mike is a sail-maker, production engineer and the owner of PV Sailing in La Cruz. People around [...]
Photographer John captures energy and spirit thru his lens.
I first met Photographer John on a friend’s boat where he had done a great deal of mechanical work and we were invited on the sea trial voyage. He was busy testing and more testing so I didn’t get a great visit but I did learn that very day how John’s a ‘salt of the earth’ kinda guy and we’ve been friends ever since. Before “retiring” John owned a custom electronics installation company in the Los Angeles area specialising in large home theatre systems, lighting controls and home automation. John met his beautiful and spunky Liz in [...]
Banana Date Coconut & Almond Flour Muffins
Not only were the muffins gone immediately I had one guest come down and give me a huge hug and another confessed she froze two for her plane ride home.
Smooth-a-liscious Lime Margarita
Enjoy a Lime Margarita blended just right! Compliments will get you everything! When guests compliment my recipes I'm charmed; when they tell me my Margarita's are the best, they get a second round and, well, I just had to teach them how to make them. Three of our guests recently asked me to teach them how I make my Lime Margarita's and I decided to share with y'all. Although I will make smaller batches I think the best flavour is when I make a blender full of lime margaritas. Lime Margarita Squeeze 12 -14 key limes (you can use [...]
