Characters around La Cruz

Enjoy a Music Mecca in paradise!

You will see pretty much every kind of instrument played; from a washboard and a squeezebox on up. We enjoy world famous artists; wonderful guitarists and drummers make up local bands while we also hear incredible saxophones and fiddles by world-renowned musicians who often play for the simple joy. Oh, and the voices; we also enjoy great singers too.

Characters; Fisherman Danny Gomez

Fisherman Danny Gomez is passionate about helping his clients catch and bring home fish!! I first met Danny Gomez and his beautiful wife at a dinner party at our house when mutual clients were staying at our Inn and fishing with Danny on his fishing vessel, Dhamar. Since then those same guests have come back and hired Danny again. They also won a tournament with him in San Blas a couple of years ago, the prize was a car!! Peter Vargas... livin’ and lovin’ La Cruz!   If only I could make a living so I can live in paradise! I’ve heard that sentiment stated in so many ways since we moved here and created a business. Peter Vargas did just that... here's his story:   Peter (Pedro) Vargas was born in Apatzingán, Michaocan, Mexico but he lived in San Pedro, California most of his life. He moved to La Cruz six years ago when [...]

Maestro Edgar... giving back to the community he adores!   La Cruz is about to have a fabulous teacher volunteering his time for Proyecto Verano 2015 OR Summer Project 2015, doesn’t it sound so much better in Espanol? As I listened to the presentation I was eager to learn more about the man behind such a challenging mission. Edgar’s goal is to offer a summer camp for around 100 children with music, arts, dancing and sports lessons, also ecology and swimming. Surely it will be a great project! Edgar says “Kids, I'm pretty sure that they will have a better [...]

[...]

Sweet passions; La Cruz’s bakers!

La Cruz’s bakers; I interviewed Michael about his journey and the much-needed service he and Yolanda are creating with 'MY Cakes LaCruz'! Reminiscing about how I met different folks in La Cruz brings a smile! My first memory of Michael Crane humbled me; it was six in the morning at Philo’s bar where Canada was playing Sweden in the Olympic hockey game. Philo was kind enough to open for those of us who had to embrace our roots! Needless to say, the room was full of Canadians except for Philo and his one staff member, Gris, who came in to [...]
